The drawing of the conference tables is a project in itself with its complexity
linked to the need to integrate a lot of technical equipment, whilst maintaining
a pleasant appearance for participants in the meetings.
The presence of terminals on the desks was reduced to a minimum and for
the Council room it was decided to do away with monitors in order for heads
of state to be able to look each other in the eye without the computer as an
intermediary.
One of the issues was to be able to access the cable channels under the table
during meetings, for emergency repairs, without disturbing the participant in
the meeting, i.e., creating an access point on the side opposite the chair. The
table’s rounded shape does not allow for “pivoting” systems and has led to a
“sash” opening system.
