PROJECT FOR WAREHOUSES
FOR THE BELGIAN ARMY
/ FLORENNES (NAMUR PROVINCE)
/ 1991
Five parallel hangars, consisting of large reinforced-con-
crete parabolic arches covered in steel and aluminium
cladding, are designed to accommodate – for mainte-
nance and storage purposes – Belgian Army equipment
and rolling stock following deployment in Germany. The
concept is economical and uncomplicated, being one of
the most stable structural types in existence. Movable
partitions make it possible to modulate the interior
spaces. The arrangement is part of a previously defined
urban planning framework, and the placement of the
five hangars allows for easy manoeuvring of vehicles.
