Located on a small island, this double residence was
intended to replace a former hunting lodge surrounded
by a moat, which was expanded before being destroyed
by fire in 1979. Access to the land is from the south.
Philippe Samyn, who creates nearly all his gardens,
has always paid great attention to the orientation of his
structures, which depends on the use that will be made
of them. The new arrangement consists of two very rig-
orously geometric and symmetrical dwellings, accessible
from a tree-lined path crossing the moat. The north-
south oriented living rooms are located on a bridge over
the moat – in some ways a precursor to the approach
