GROUP OF FOUR HOUSES
/ LOUVAIN-LA-NEUVE
(WALLOON BRABANT PROVINCE)
/ 1977
/ 1978–1979
*
These four houses for Sogerim Construction are
the economic bedfellows of the Boulanger house,
and are faithful to the semi-traditional design established
by Raymond Lemaire for nearly every academic and resi-
dential structure in Louvain-la-Neuve. The rigour of their
composition and the play of the diagonals, which enrich
the interior space, add to their significance. Outside,
the presence of the archetype is perfectly expressed.
Philippe Samyn’s passion for geometry is on display
here, in a construction mode of great simplicity. The
most interesting part of the layout is that each structure
is developed across two half-gables.
