Evacuation routes and re ghting equipment only make sense when their location and use are clearly understood. The signage makes use of grey stripes: horizontal ones 15 cm high above doors, or vertical ones 30 cm wide next to doors.
These grey stripes hold all safety information in the form of 30 x 15 cm logos, showing evacuation plans and routes, as well as the location of re extinguishers, alarm buttons, re alarms, etc.
Figure opposite shows one of the 26 evacuation plans designed to t into these stripes while the photograph below shows the same plan in actual use.
